Access from Torokko Kameoka Station to the Hozugawa River Boat Ride

This guide explains how to reach the Hozugawa River Boat Ride after taking the Sagano Romantic Train (Torokko / Sagano Romantic Trolley Train) from Arashiyama (Torokko Saga Station) to Torokko Kameoka Station.

1. Take the Sagano Romantic Train

• The Sagano Romantic Train runs between Arashiyama (Torokko Saga Station) and Torokko Kameoka Station.

• The train departs Torokko Saga Station at 02 minutes past each hour and arrives at Torokko Kameoka Station at around 25 minutes past the hour.

• The journey takes about 23 minutes.

• Enjoy beautiful river and mountain scenery during the ride from Arashiyama to Kameoka.

2. After Arriving at Torokko Kameoka Station

• After arriving at Torokko Kameoka Station, you can travel to the Hozugawa River Boat Ride boarding area by bus, taxi, or horse carriage.

Please walk down the slope from the station and follow the signs for the “Hozugawa River Boat Ride Bus Stop”.

3. Transportation Options

• Local Bus

  1. After leaving the station, walk through the tunnel under the railway tracks. The bus stop is just ahead.

  2. Buses depart at 35 minutes past each hour (once per hour).

  3. Please go directly to the bus stop after arriving. Missing the bus may cause you to miss your boat departure.

  4. The ride takes about 10 minutes.

  5. Fare:

     • Adult: 500 yen (※As of March 1, 2026. Please check Keihan Kyoto Kotsu for the latest information.)
     • Child: 250 yen
     • Operator: Keihan Kyoto Kotsu

• Taxi

  • Taxis are usually not waiting at Torokko Kameoka Station.

  • If you need a taxi, please arrange one when purchasing your train ticket at Torokko Saga Station.

  • Taxi company: Kyoto Taxi (Tel: 077-25-1000)

  • Fare: about 2,600 yen per car

  • Travel time: about 10 minutes

• Horse Carriage (Kyobasha)

  • You can also travel by traditional horse carriage from Torokko Kameoka Station.

  • The carriage stop is located directly in front of the station on the riverside (north side).

  • Travel time is about 30 minutes.

  • The horse carriage usually arrives around the top of each hour.

  • If you booked your boat ride online and your carriage arrives close to your reservation time, please contact us in advance (0771-22-5846).

  • Please note that the 2:00 PM horse carriage will not arrive in time for the last boat departure. In this case, please take the bus.

4. Arrival at the Boarding Area

• You will arrive at the Hozugawa River Boat Ride boarding area by bus, taxi, or horse carriage.

• The reception desk is located on the 2nd floor of the building.

• Please complete check-in at the reception desk after arrival.

Important Notes

• The bus departs once per hour at 35 minutes past the hour. Missing the bus may cause you to miss your boat departure.

• This is especially important for guests with a 3:00 PM reservation (last departure).

• If you miss the bus, you may still be able to make your departure by taxi. Please arrange one quickly at the tourist information center.

• Taxis must be arranged in advance because they are not always available at the station.

• The horse carriage stop is located on the north side of Torokko Kameoka Station by the river.

• The ride takes about 30 minutes and offers a relaxing and traditional travel experience.
