保津峡の岩ツツジ
岩ツツジの季節になってきました。
保津川ツウなら桜や紅葉より岩つつじ、という人もいるそうです。
“Iwatsutsuji,” also known as Rock Azalea, is currently in bloom in Hozukyo Gorge.
It seems that the Rock Azalea flowers (rhododendrons) hold a special appeal for those who know the gorge and river boat ride well. And the added benefit of it being less crowded than during the cherry blossom or autumn leaf seasons allows for a more serene and serendipitous experience in the gorge.
